Good Choice in Principe Real District

This hotel has a lot of good amenities. Clean, secure, very quiet, bar and pub food available downstairs, staff was helpful. The biggest attraction to this location is Parque de Eduardo IIV is two blocks over and it’s a block away from the Metro line which made navigating around super easy. Not close to downtown so no nightclub scene (this was a bonus for us) but could walk there easily although some sights were far (we got our steps in). Good choice if being able to sleep is important.

Excellent hotel to stay in. Quick check in. Close to Metro train station and takes you to the historic area. Breakfast was quite good, won’t be disappointed. Rooms were clean and tidy, staff were helpful and friendly. Safe in room to keep your valuables. Great experience. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend.

Really functional. Nice, well equipped rooms. Can get a little noisy early on if you’re a light sleeper but we get up early anyway. Receptionists really friendly and great location. They also pumped amazing scents into the lobby which I loved every time we returned back.

HF Fenix urban hotel Lisbon Portugal Review the hotel is about 10 mins in a Uber from airport which is very cheap €5.52 (£4.75) so worth doing The hotel is a 20 min walk towards the sea and the shops. The Hotel is pleasant any clean. The staff on reception were very nice and helpful. My room was on the 3rd floor (the same floor as the restaurant) the room was clean and had all the things that you would expect for a 4 star hotel, safe, robes and slippers, the bath/shower was good. I did have a problem sleeping as l think because it was an end room it had some noise from an air conditioner or some machine,it was faint but it kept me awake unfortunately. BREAKFAST STAFF however was a shame, it did have a good variety of food from cold to hot, also sparkling wine which was a nice touch, the hot was not always hot, scrambled eggs every morning, l asked if l can have a fried or poached egg, the lady replied yes but you have to pay for it, 🤔🤔 it’s supposed to be 4* (star) so l was surprised by that as l have never had to pay more before, one morning l was going to take a cup of coffee to my room and the staff told me l couldn’t l had to have a plastic or paper cup🤔🤔gone never have l been stopped taking a cup to my room. On the last morning l wanted to take a pastry to my room, l did feel that the staff particularly one lady was watching every thing we did, we did feel very watched, also the day before but ignored it.The lady (staff) came up to us after we rapped in a napkin and told us we are not allowed to do this l explained to her it was 1 small pastry she was very adamant we can not take, l have NEVER EVER had that problem before and l felt very very watched and felt like a criminal, the staff were so over the top. I will not stay at this hotel again because of the restaurant staff and how they made us feel Very disappointed as the hotel was ok otherwise I did report to the hotel manager which he tried to excuse the situation but had said the staff should not make guests feel uncomfortable and should over look a small cake extra, l understand if l was making a packed lunch 🤣 but a small pastry 🤔🤔 come on

The Hotel HF Fenix Urban was our base during our recent trip to Lisbon and we stayed there all but one of our nights in Portugal. The hotel choice was part of the package with Air Canada Vacations and until we arrived in Lisbon, we had no idea we were staying their as they had told us we would be at another hotel. It’s a small, 148 room 4-star establishment fairly centrally located in the centre of the city on Av. António Augusto Aguiar a couple of steps up from the intersection with Av. Fontes P. Melo. Its an easy 20–30-minute walk south, downhill to the tourist area of downtown Lisbon and located next to Parque Eduardo VII and a little over a 5-minute walk to the Marques De Pombal which is convenient as this is where the Hop on hop off and other tour buses start from. The area to the north is mostly residential with plenty of stores and a few cafes as well as the El Corte Inglis shopping mall a few minutes walk away. There are three Metro stations in close proximity. Parque on the Blue Line is literally almost across the street and Picoas on the Yellow Line and Marques De Pombal on the Blue and Yellow Lines both a little more than a 5-minute walk. There is also a good cluster of five restaurants less than five minutes away at the corner of Av. Fontes P. Melo and Av Sidonio Pais. The hotel has an interesting layout due to Lisbon’s topography. It’s built into the side of a hill and therefore the main entrance and lobby are actually on the fourth floor with the breakfast restaurant on the floor below, the third. There is an inner courtyard garden with access from the first floor and apparently according to the elevator several levels of underground parking below this. I presume the entrance to this is off of R Sao Sebastiao da Pedreira behind and below, the main hotel entrance. The hotel lists having a business centre as well as laundry service and a rent a car services. There was also a Eurocar rental office a few doors north. WIFI is available throughout the hotel and is both free and fairly fast. Check in was fast and painless although there were only four of us on the airport transfer. Several times later in the week I saw large full bus tours checking in and out and this looked like a lengthy process as the entire small lobby area was filled with guests and their luggage lining up to get either checked in or out. As it was an early morning arrival the rooms were not ready and we were invited to store our luggage and grab lunch nearby. After lunch the rooms were ready and we completed the process including paying the 2 Euro per person per night city tax on our credit card. There were no other charges. Our room, 601 was a corner room right by the elevator which came in handy. The walls appear to be rather thin and one night, when one of the bus tours was in and the hotel was probably full, we could hear the people in the room next to us engaging in some ahem exercise. The room was small but fairly well laid out with two twin beds pushed together to make a king size on. However, because they still used two twin sized sets of linens this really didn’t work. For some reason the maid never corrected this although we know she was in every day to change linens as needed. This was ample closet space with surprisingly plenty of wooden hangers, and extra blankets on the top shelf. Dresser drawers however were limited to those in the end tables and the desk work station. This also contained the mini fridge which was stocked but still had room to store our own water, juices and other snacks. There were plenty of electrical outlets mostly on the desk and the bedside tables, only one side however had USB outlets for phone charging. There was a flat screen TV with remote mounted on the wall opposite the bed with a wide variety of local and European cable channels including news and movie ones. The bathroom was a bit of a surprise as it was larger than expected with a single sink, toilet, bidet and glass enclosed shower/tub combo. There was no shortage of hot water and pressure was good. There was a nice selection of toiletries and an electric hairdryer. A fair selection of towels replaced as needed by the maid and as a final nice touch two thick white terry cloth robes. As in many hotels the key card had to be inserted into a wall slot to enable the lights and A/C or heat to work. Fortunately, we were given two of these in case one of us wanted to go out alone. As we were above street level there was a window with a great view of nearby roofs and A/C units. However, we really didn’t really spend a lot of time in the room. The only real disappointment was the in room safe. It was the standard programable electric hotel safe and big enough to hold a tablet, DSLR and our wallets and other valuables. The only issue was its placement. It was in the closet of course but mounted on a side wall not the rear one. This meant the door opened outwards and it was awkward to use the keyboard to open and lock it. One literally had to crawl into the closet and sit on the shelf to do so. As I said the lobby was small but well appointed with plenty of comfortable seating areas and a couple of wall mounted TVs. Off it was the bar, which I used a couple of times during our stay. Drinks were not much more than at other nearby local bars which is unusual as many hotels I’ve stayed at have a fairly large mark up. There was a light meal/snack menu available and while we never tried it other guests, we talked to said the pizza was quite good. They were also convinced that it wasn’t made on the premises but ordered from a nearby place and delivered. The hotel included a free breakfast served from 7:30am in the restaurant and this turned out to be one of the nicer surprises of our stay. I’ve sadly become used to a poor selection of cold cereal and bad coffee at other hotels over the years. This was not the case here. There was an extensive selection of fresh fruits freshly baked goods including the hotels version of pastel de natas. A good selection of cereals and juices and fresh coffee and a selection of assorted teas. For those who needed it there was even the ingredients to mix up Bloody Mary’s including alcohol. The highlight was the selection of scrambled eggs and excellent local bacon, always warm if not hot and in ample supply. There were also other dishes, such as beans and on one morning roasted potatoes. Unless the place was crowded such as when the aforementioned bus tours were there, there was more than enough to grab seconds if one wanted. Overall, I have little to complain about of our stay here and if we need a place for future trips to Lisbon then this will definitely be on the short list.
